TREND: Camel Cover

Unless you’ve been in extreme hibernation for the past three seasons, you’ll know that camel coloured classics have dominated the catwalks and, subsequently, our campuses. Lending themselves perfectly to the minimalism trend we love, camel coats are elegant, timeless and go with just about anything. A beige hue exudes a nonchalant chic, while simultaneously appearing classic and trendy.

From Hermès’ double-breasted trench coats to lavish gown styles at Aquascutum, honey shades were admired everywhere. Even Mulberry’s past campaign starred Abbey Lee Kershaw and Hanne Gaby Odiele in stylish camel. Here in Newcastle (whether we like it or not), we’ll be wrapping up in winter coats for a while yet. Chloé’s caramel delight is unsuitably priced for us students but the high street is here to help fulfil our camel coloured desires. Miss Selfridge offer a beautiful frock coat with faux fur trim whilst Betty Jackson provides a full skirted classic – in the Debenham’s sale, no less!

Today’s Fashionista covers up in a vintage, straight cut, blonde camel coat, cinched at the waist by a wide tie. This dramatic piece is paired with a black V-neck, solid black boots and a large black handbag to focus the outfit. The bag’s patent leather panel and handle amp up the look, keeping it youthful. I particularly loved this week’s Fashionista’s attention to detail; she wears pale brown eye-shadow to reinforce the camel shade. If you’re lucky enough to be closeting the winter coat for a while, incorporate the trend into your spring wardrobe with Zara’s silk tunic or a bandeau maxi dress from River Island. Just keep it camel.
