TREND: Feminine Touch
08Mar 11
This week I’ve enjoyed dressing up, so when I spotted this feminine Fashionista on the streets of Newcastle, I knew I’d found what I was looking for. In their trend report, Vogue online declared, "make this season your most fashionable one yet in the coolest party dressing trends." Today’s Fashionista does just that, dressing down her Love for Topshop pleated dress, so it’s ideal for day time too. Take note cash-stretched students, items that transcend night and day are sensible investments.
Faux fur is still massively popular around our campus and prevailed on the catwalks again this season. Giving an instant glamour hit, check out Topshop Unique's and Fendi's A/W 2011 collections for inspiration. This stylish student’s choice is a luxurious number from Next, but there are others all over the high street and in vintage stores.
This week’s Fashionista accessorised well, giving her look girlish appeal. A gold bangle and large cocktail ring lend lavishness to this outfit. My personal ring addiction is fulfilled by the likes of Topshop, Urban Outfitters and ASOS. Rings can be used to toughen or soften an outfit; the black ring in this outfit nods towards a grungier vibe, but is still in keeping with the overall ladylike appeal. To enhance this further, her mock croc crimson bag adds a flirty touch. A light tan coloured scarf is paired with a floral headscarf. This foresees the spring season despite the chilly climate. Vintage silk scarves make gorgeous headbands, so keep a look out on your next shopping spree!
Finally, the look is finished with cute ballet pumps, a feminine contrast to winter boots. New Look has a vast selection of casual flats – pretty and practical.
